Simao is a civil dispute resolution specialist with a particular expertise in property and construction law, employment & discrimination and regulatory law.

Simao has a particular expertise in commercial and residential landlord and tenant litigation and undertakes a substantial amount of both contentious and non-contentious property work.

His work in this area covers joint venture agreements, the renewal and determination of business leases; building disputes; construction contracts; service charges; trusts of land and beneficial interests; possession proceedings (including mortgages); unlawful eviction; Town and Country Planning Act Injunctions; public and private nuisance.

Employment & Discrimination

Simao acts for and advises employers and employees on a broad range of employment law related disputes before the Employment Tribunals and civil courts.

Although his more recent work has focused on discrimination and whistleblowing disputes, his work in this area includes claims for:

  • breach of contract (including restrictive covenants);
  • discrimination, victimisation and harassment;
  • protected disclosures (whistleblowing);  
  • unfair dismissal;
  •  disputes over “worker” status; and
  • claims concerning negligent misstatement.

Simao can also be instructed in respect of non-contentious matters, such as the drafting of contracts of employment and policy documents.
