Members of the Prison Law Team advise and represent those detained in prison and subsequently on their release into the community. We deal with the following types of cases:
- Prison adjudications;
- Parole board hearings;
- Prison conditions;
- Licence conditions;
- Categorisation and transfer issues.
Our team is also available to advise and act in judicial review challenges of unlawful prison policies and decisions by the prison service and/or parole board, as well as Human Rights Act challenges. Being part of a multi-disciplinary set enables our members to draw expertise from related teams, including mental health, discrimination and immigration.
“I am a Solicitor who specialises in Prison Law and I am a Partner at Chivers Solicitors LLP. I have been working closely with counsel from Chambers up and down England for the past 19 years.
I first worked with Invictus Chambers during 2014. I found them to be a very useful set and very easy to deal with on a personal level. Important when one is thinking of the professional relationship between Solicitors and Barristers. Equally important is that they are always more than willing to assist the hard pressed Solicitor / Clerk; and at any hour.
Since 2014 I have instructed members of Invictus Chambers on many parole hearings. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Invictus Chambers” – Marcus Farrar
