Venetia Carpenter


Venetia qualified as a mediator with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) in 2003 and has built up a substantial amount of experience in commercial, civil and workplace mediations over the years. She also accepts instructions to mediate in family, neighbourhood and community disputes.

Venetia is the former chair of the Ashford Mediation Service, a charity specialising in community mediation.

Professional Experience

Venetia started her working life on the family farm before leaving at 26 to take up employment in the City. During a lengthy career, she has worked for a couple of FTSE 100 listed insurance companies, including Commercial Union (which is now part of Aviva Plc) and the international firm of accountants, KPMG.

She has worked in the board room for many years as a Company Secretary advising and assisting Boards on legal, governance and other issues which a company and its directors have to comply. Her clients have spanned a range of industries (insurance, retail, finance and music to name just a few) and include charities and the public sector in addition to multi-national private companies and groups. 

Venetia previously sat on the Management Committee for Ashford Mediation Service and she now works on a voluntary basis for the charity mediating neighbourhood disputes. 

She is the Chair of the Skillnet Group Community Interest Company, which promotes and helps the learned disabled live independently in the Community.
